Due to the hurling of a shoe at President Bush by an Iraqi Journalist, A Turkish company which manufactures the shoes has received a flood of orders (370,000 pairs) for the same type. They've also decided to trademark the footwear as "Bye Bye Bush Shoes" for sale.
That company which on the 23rd in this paper said, "14 days since the incident occurred we have received a flood of orders not just from the Middle East, but the West, Brazil and Taiwan among other places. I don't know whether we support or condone the journalist's actions but they have been a godsend in the face of a recession."
In the Middle East, 20,000 pairs are on sale, however, those are ones sold under "urgent demand" from the world abroad. The shoes are made of leather, each shoe weighing 600 grams. Wholesale price is at 2400 Japanese Yen. The shoes thrown in the incident were imported, but were definitely made by the company.
On the other hand, the said journalists court date is on the 31st. If convicted, the maximum penalty would be 15 years in prison.
