US Congress Shaken by Obama Successor, Paroled Governor Defiantly Names Replacement.

Washington-Umihara Kisai

The Local Political world's "Dirty Laundry" of President-Elect Obama's senate seat vacancy due to his election win is sending tremors throughout the U.S. Congress. As of December 30th, the Illinois State Governor has pushed through his nomination of the succeeding senator, but the situation has yet to be resolved.

In the center of this storm of controversy is State Governor Blagojevich (D-IL) who can by law, designate the successor to Obama's Senate vacancy. For misusing such authority to "auction off" Mr. Obama's Senate Seat, he was arrested by Federal Prosecutors on December 12th.

While within the Democratic Party, there have been successive calls for Mr. Obama to demand the governor's resignation, he has claimed innocence and refused to budge. Furthermore, he has named Former State Attorney General Burris (An African American) as Obama's successor.

In opposition to this, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Reid has refused the inauguration of Burris in the New Congressional Assortment in January. The Illinois Secretary of State whom is director of Election Records also intends to refuse Burris's certification.

The same day while on vacation in his home state of Hawaii, Mr. Obama unprecedentedly declared; "I agree with the Congressional Leaders' decision that a governor charged with corruption cannot be allowed to nominate. The most prudent action of replacement is the governor's resignation."

Mr. Obama had no dealings with the governor and because investigators only charged him, the problem does not spread to Obama's incoming administration. Despite that, these circumstances can't at all be desirable on the part of said administration.
