On the first in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba on the 1st, President Raul Castro offered stinging criticism of America at the 50th Cuban Revolution Anniversary ceremony. "It is truly significant that in the midst of vehement and pathological American hatred, we have steadfastly protected out revolution.", he said.

At the end of Last year; President Raul expressed anticipation towards a bi national leadership conference with President Elect Barack Obama but still seems unyielding in the face of American demands to democratize the country.
